Based on the curriculum of the Ministry of Education, the Sports School was established in 1323 with 25 students from the 7th to 9th grades, and after graduating from the 9th grade, they worked as physical education teachers in schools. In 1337, based on The Ministry of Education upgraded it to a Vocational Sports High School, which educated students up to the 12th grade, and in 1352, developed it into a Physical Education Institute, which graduated students up to the 14th grade (five-year period). In 1366, it was promoted to a professor of physical education in Pidagozhi University of Kabul. Now, in the establishment of Kabul University of Education, it is considered one of the most active Faculty of this university.

Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences was first established in 1323 AH. Of course, not as a faculty, but for the first time this academic institution began its activities with the establishment of a physical education school in the aforementioned year with the aim of training professional staff. The educational period of the school at that time was three years. In 1337 AH, the school was upgraded to a physical education high school; and in 1359 AH, to an institute of physical education and finally in 1366 AH, to a physical education faculty. It should also be noted that at that time this educational institution was operating in Ibn Sina High School, Kabul, which is located in Karte Chahar. It is worth noting that the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences was merged with Kabul University of Education in 1374 AH due to the necessity of the time. Since its establishment until now, this faculty has presented more than (30) courses of male and female students to the society as teachers to the society.

It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, which initially started as a physical education school, is now the only faculty in the country that annually presents dozens of students, both male and female, to the society as professional and educated teachers in the field of physical education and sports sciences. Right now, the Faculty of Physical Education has 21 professional staff in master's and bachelor's degrees, each of whom has a reputable scientific rank and is competent in teaching and academic affairs. It should be noted that now the total number of students in this faculty, both male and female, reaches 483. Of the total number mentioned, 310 students are male and 173 are female, who are practically busy learning their sports courses and training. Fortunately, in the past years of the faculty administration and the university leadership, we have witnessed the excellent achievements of our dear students in fields such as volleyball, handball, basketball, and...

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences now has four departments, which are known as the following:

• Department of General Physical Education

• Department of Sports Management

• Department of Coaching

• Department of Sports Medicine (Sports Pathology).

It should not be left unsaid; the names of the aforementioned departments, which were previously called by different names; were changed in 2019 after the approval of the Honorable Directorate of Scientific Programs Development; that the above departments jointly work and operate in the field of teaching and training (physical and mental) of students so that today's students, who are tomorrow's professional teachers of this country, can learn professional and skilled education in the field of physical education and sports in a correct and calculated manner.

Finally, it is necessary to remember that different deans have been in charge of the department from the beginning to the present, who have always made efforts to grow and develop the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and their efforts are valuable and praiseworthy.
